The DR Congo international has been given permission to travel to the Midlands for a medical, though the exact structure of the fee has not been confirmed. West Ham United had previously asked interested clubs to pay £25million for the 28-year-old outright.
Wan-Bissaka has missed Championship club West Ham's opening two matches of the season while the move was negotiated. The Hammers were relegated from the Premier League last term and have already sold Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur for £85million and winger Crysencio Summerville for £60million this summer, even as captain Jarrod Bowen committed his future by signing a new contract.
Aston Villa, by contrast, arrive at the deal in the middle of a busy rebuilding job under Unai Emery. The club sold Morgan Rogers to Chelsea for £117million this summer and currently have the lowest net spend of any Premier League club at roughly £110million once sales are accounted for.
That outlay has still allowed Villa to add midfielders Johan Manzambi and Joao Gomes, take Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho on loan with an obligation to buy, and sign highly rated young centre-back Modou Keba Cisse.
Wan-Bissaka would add further competition and experience at right-back as Villa prepare for a season combining Premier League and Champions League commitments, having finished fourth and won the Europa League under Emery last term.
Wan-Bissaka came through the academy at Crystal Palace before a £50million move to Manchester United in 2019, where he won the EFL Cup and FA Cup across five seasons at Old Trafford. He joined West Ham in 2024 and was named the club's Hammer of the Year in his first season, but has since switched international allegiance from England to DR Congo, helping the nation qualify for this summer's World Cup for the first time in 52 years.
His arrival would give Emery a defender with a contrasting profile to Villa's existing options, renowned for his tackling and one-on-one defending down the right side. Villa begin their league campaign away at Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
