Mikel Arteta insists Arsenal's full focus has immediately switched to Sunday's Premier League trip to West Ham United, three days after his side's 1-0 victory over Atlético Madrid sealed a place in the Champions League final against PSG.

The Arsenal manager addressed media at the club's Sobha Realty Training Centre on Friday, making clear the magnitude of Tuesday's result had been compressed into a brief window before attention shifted entirely to West Ham United.

"We'll have time to prepare and get ready for that final, but now the focus, the attention, the detail, the energy, everything has to be put into West Ham. There is nothing else there and we made it very clear."

On his personal emotional state since the Atletico Madrid win, Arteta was candid.

"I was in a really high emotional state after the game, obviously, because we know what it means to everybody. But straight after that, my concentration, my energy was: West Ham, what do we have to do on the mental side, physically, tactically, technically, to prepare in the best possible way? That's it."

His message to both players and supporters ahead of the title run-in was equally direct.

"Stay present, live the moment, prepare and show the same level of energy, hunger and desire that we've shown all season — or more — because we are closer and closer, and everything that we do now is going to matter."

Arteta paid tribute to midfielder Declan Rice — who faces his former club on Sunday — describing him as one of the team's most significant figures.

"He was already really well developed when he arrived. He's been outstanding for us, one of our leaders, one of the main players without a doubt. What he's doing for the club and the team is just very powerful."

He was similarly effusive about right-back Bukayo Saka.

"A joy. I feel extremely lucky to find somebody at the club that you can lean into at any level. On the football level, what he has provided to this club, and what he did the other night, is just remarkable."

Arteta confirmed midfielder Mikel Merino and defender Jurrien Timber are both unavailable for Sunday, with the Dutchman's injury proving more complicated than anticipated.

"That's probably been the most difficult thing to manage — with the player and with myself — because we didn't expect it to take so long."

Arsenal lead Manchester City by five points with four games remaining, City having a game in hand. The title could be decided in the next fortnight. West Ham come first.
