Gyokeres has yet to register a goal or assist this season and has been limited to two starts in Arsenal's first eight matches.
His lack of regular attacking output has already prompted speculation that he could consider leaving the club either in January or next summer.
Inside the Arsenal dressing room, however, there appears to be a very different view of the striker's contribution.
Defenders Riccardo Calafiori, Piero Hincapié and Cristhian Mosquera, who regularly face Gyokeres in training, have all spoken positively about the impact he has on the team.
Hincapié was particularly emphatic when discussing the Sweden international.
“He puts in a huge physical effort and is always helping in defence, which is very important for everyone,” the Ecuadorian said.
“His physicality is his biggest strength and it seems like he never gets tired. That is what he brings to the team.”
Hincapié also pointed to Gyokeres' contribution to Arsenal's success last season, when the club won the Premier League for the first time in 22 years.
“I’m very happy for him, because he brings a lot to the team, makes a big difference and thanks to him, and the whole team, we were able to win the league,” he said.
Calafiori also highlighted the difficulty of moving from Portugal to England and believes Gyokeres has already demonstrated that he can adapt to the demands of the Premier League.
“It’s not easy to adapt from the Portuguese league to the Premier League, which is the best league in the world,” Calafiori said.
“So, for us, he is doing very well.”
The Italy international added that Gyokeres' attitude is particularly appreciated by Arsenal's defenders.
“For me, as a defender, I love those who give 100% for the team, who fight until the end. He is exactly that type of player.”
Calafiori also highlighted another important part of the striker's game.
“With the ball, he gives us so many options. His runs in behind are spectacular for us,” he said.
Mosquera agreed that Gyokeres' consistency in his work is more important than his current scoring record.
“The consistency of Viktor is what matters,” the Colombia-born defender said.
“Even in goal droughts, he continues to work hard to help the team and that is what is important.”
The comments provide a reminder that Gyokeres' contribution is not limited to goals.
The Swedish striker was a major part of Arsenal's title-winning campaign last season and also helped the club reach the Champions League final, where they lost to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.
His current lack of goals has therefore created a sharp contrast with the impact he had during his first season in north London.
While his scoring figures will inevitably remain an important measure for a centre-forward, his teammates have stressed the physical work, defensive contribution, movement and ability to create space that he provides.
For Gyokeres, the immediate task is to translate that wider contribution into goals and assists again.
His Arsenal teammates, however, have made clear that they continue to value what he contributes even while the goals are not arriving.
