Brazilian outlet TNT Sports reports that Arsenal have spoken to both Corinthians and Dodici Sports, the agency representing the 20-year-old.
The discussions have so far been exploratory, with Arsenal seeking a clearer picture of Bidon's situation and the conditions that could be involved in a future transfer.
No fee was discussed and there has been no formal proposal from Mikel Arteta's club.
The latest development backs up earlier reports that Arsenal had contacted Corinthians about the midfielder, while also revealing that the Gunners have gone directly to the player's representatives.
Arsenal are not alone in keeping tabs on Bidon. Manchester United have also been monitoring the Brazilian, while Chelsea have reportedly gone further by making an initial offer, although that proposal fell well short of Corinthians' expectations.
Corinthians, meanwhile, have no immediate intention of weakening their squad.
Local reports indicate that the club would prefer to retain Bidon until the end of the year before considering a sale, particularly with the team facing a demanding schedule that includes the Copa Libertadores.
The Brazilian side believe another season of regular football could increase the midfielder's value and give interested European clubs a larger body of senior performances to assess.
That position could change if a sufficiently large offer arrives, particularly during the middle of the year when the European market begins to take shape.
Corinthians head coach Dorival Júnior has also acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the player while making clear that he would rather keep his squad together.
“He’s a very important player. And if I’m being honest with you, I wouldn’t like to lose any player,” Dorival said.
“We need to find balance so we can have a strong squad throughout the year. That is our biggest challenge.”
For Arsenal, the current position is therefore one of assessment rather than negotiation.
The club have established contact with both sides of the equation, but any move for Bidon would require Corinthians to alter their current stance or receive an offer capable of changing their plans.
