Three Premier League giants are all tracking Porto midfielder Victor Froholdt, with the 20-year-old Dane emerging as one of the most coveted young midfielders in European football after a standout debut season in Portugal.

Danish outlet Bold.dk reported this week that Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United are showing strong interest in Froholdt following Porto's Primeira Liga title win, with veteran journalist Mads Glenn Wehlast — the same reporter who first broke Christian Nørgaard's move to Arsenal — confirming the Gunners have made direct checks on the player.

Froholdt joined Porto from Copenhagen last summer for around £19million after winning the Danish Superliga and Danish Cup double and being named both the league's Young Player of the Year and a member of its Team of the Year.

He hit the ground running in Portugal, making 49 appearances across all competitions and contributing eight goals and six assists as Francesco Farioli's side claimed their 31st Primeira Liga title.

His statistical profile among Primeira Liga midfielders this season is striking — he ranked first for progressive carries, accelerations and ball-carrying frequency, and third for key passes and expected goal contributions.

Porto have protected themselves with a contract running to 2030 and a release clause reported at around £73million. The club are under no pressure to sell and will retain Champions League football next season, giving Froholdt another elite platform in Portugal.

The player himself sent a clear message at Porto's title celebrations after the final day victory over Alverca.

"I would love to continue here next season, to play in the Champions League for Porto. I already feel at home in Porto and I am very happy here."

Whether that remains his position as the summer advances and concrete offers arrive is another matter. Arsenal are understood to be monitoring his situation rather than pursuing him as an immediate priority. Liverpool, who endured a disappointing campaign and face a significant midfield rebuild, have the most pressing need. Newcastle's interest reflects their ongoing efforts to identify and sign elite young talent before bigger clubs move.

At £73million, Froholdt would be an expensive bet on a player with one full season at Porto behind him. The release clause is the price of entry — and all three clubs know it.
