The 20-year-old left Hertha BSC for Leverkusen last summer, and enjoyed a productive debut season at the BayArena, scoring five goals and providing six assists in 44 competitive matches.
He has continued that form into the new campaign, with a goal and two assists in his first four appearances. Maza is contracted to the Bundesliga club until the summer of 2030.
Atletico Madrid are also reported to be showing interest in the attacking midfielder, with both Manchester United and Manchester City and Atlético said to have been in contact with his representatives to stay informed of his situation.
Fussball-News reports Bayer Leverkusen have set a price tag of €65-70 million for Maza, a substantial mark-up on the roughly €12 million they paid Hertha for him.
Leverkusen currently sit seventh in the Bundesliga, having taken four points from their opening three matches. Maza's rise has coincided with speculation over Florian Wirtz's long-term Leverkusen successor, with the Algeria international increasingly seen as a natural fit for the creative role Wirtz once occupied before his move to Liverpool.
Given the level of interest already circling and the price now attached to him, Leverkusen appear to be preparing for the possibility that Maza could follow a similar path out of the club before too long, even if a deal at this stage remains some way off.
Born in Berlin, Maza came through Hertha's youth system before switching international allegiance from Germany to Algeria in 2024, having previously represented the Germans at various youth levels.
His move to Leverkusen was seen at the time as a coup for a club with a strong recent record of developing young attacking talent into some of the Bundesliga's most sought-after players, a pattern Wirtz's own rise to Liverpool has only reinforced.
Should Maza continue his current form, the gap between Leverkusen's asking price and any eventual bid may prove difficult for suitors to bridge before next summer at the earliest.
