Lucas Gourna-Douath was involved in a second car crash near Hull City's training ground, with the midfielder escaping injury after his Mercedes ended up on its side.

The incident happened at around 08:30 GMT on Thursday on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham, East Yorkshire. Humberside Police confirmed emergency services attended a report of a single-vehicle road traffic collision.

Hull City said it was “aware of images circulating on social media following a road traffic accident near the training ground and can confirm that no one was harmed in the incident”.

Images from the scene showed a black Mercedes on its side before it was recovered by a tow truck. The BBC reports the vehicle belongs to Gourna-Douath, who joined Hull City during the summer.

A resident also told the BBC that the Mercedes had struck and damaged another car. Paul Nickerson, who lives on the road, said he had arrived shortly after hearing the crash.

“I arrived just after it turned over because I heard the noise.

“If it had happened a minute before, my wife was walking down the road with our kids taking them to school. So, it’s really worrying.”

The accident is the second involving a Hull player on the same stretch of road in three weeks. Sorba Thomas was involved in a crash there on 11 September, when his vehicle overturned, although he was also unharmed.

The back-to-back incidents have drawn attention to the narrow residential road leading towards Hull's training base, with local residents previously raising concerns about safety.

The French midfielder joined Hull during the summer and has been part of the club's Premier League squad this season. He was not reported to have suffered any injury in the latest incident.

For the club, the immediate point is that Gourna-Douath was not injured. The midfielder remains available to continue his season with Hull after an incident that could easily have had more serious consequences.
