The Cherries had an offer on the table for at least two months, but the 22-year-old has rejected those terms, opening the door to renewed interest from some of the Premier League's biggest clubs.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea are all credited with an interest in the England Under-21 international. Arsenal had already tested the water in June, only for an approach to be turned down by Bournemouth.
Scott joined Bournemouth from Bristol City for £25million in 2023 and still has two years remaining on his current deal, giving the south coast club no obligation to sell even with suitors circling.
That has not stopped Bournemouth stating their position clearly and repeatedly, both publicly and directly to the player and interested parties, that Scott will not be leaving Dean Court this summer, whether or not he eventually signs an extension.
The club's stance has held firm despite reported valuations of around £80million being placed on the midfielder, with Bournemouth continuing to knock back enquiries as they did with Arsenal.
Their confidence in resisting offers stems partly from their financial position. Having secured Europa League qualification for the first time in the club's history, Bournemouth also generated significant funds last summer through the sales of Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, Illia Zabarnyi and Dango Ouattara, giving them room to hold out rather than cash in on one of their prized assets.
With Scott seemingly digging in over a new deal and Bournemouth just as determined not to sell, his situation looks set to remain one of the more closely watched contract stand-offs of the summer, particularly with rival clubs waiting to see whether the south coast side's resolve eventually cracks.
Scott has become one of the most sought-after young midfielders in England since his move from Bristol City, and his continued development has only increased the level of interest from clubs above Bournemouth in the Premier League table.
