Zirkzee joined Manchester United from Bologna two summers ago for a fee just over €40m, off the back of a standout 2023-24 season in Serie A, but has struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford, managing nine goals and four assists in 75 appearances without winning a trophy at the club.
That has left him free to leave, with Ajax, Juventus, Como and two unnamed Premier League clubs all showing interest in the 25-year-old Netherlands international. Ajax's chances look particularly slim: the club has already strengthened its own forward line this summer, paying €19m for Marcos Leonardo and bringing in Tolu Arokodare on loan, leaving little room for Zirkzee in the Johan Cruijff Arena.
A move to Italy appears the more likely outcome, with Juventus holding the strongest position among his suitors — though the Turin club are reportedly working through the departure of Jonathan David before they can push further on Zirkzee, who would arrive as competition or a partner for Randal Kolo Muani up front.
Cesc Fabregas' Como have also been credited with admiration for the forward as an alternative destination.
Should United sanction his exit, manager Michael Carrick is understood to have identified Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins as a potential replacement, with the club prepared to offer up to £40m for the forward if talks in Birmingham progress.
