Hutchinson was officially unveiled at AC Milan's flagship store on Via Dante, having joined on a season-long loan from Nottingham Forest with an option to buy worth around €40 million that becomes obligatory under certain conditions.
He became Amorim's fifth and final signing of the summer window, following the earlier arrivals of Gonçalo Ramos, Diego Moreira, Mario Gila and Sankhoun Diawara. The winger explained that his path to Milan began with a standout performance against Amorim's former club.
"I think the manager wanted me. I believe he spoke to the board, they were also very interested, and it was fairly straightforward because I played against Amorim in the match against Manchester United.
"I think he was really impressed by me and said he needed a player in that position who was left-footed. He said I fitted his criteria, so it wasn't too difficult," Hutchinson said.
Asked whether he remembered the goal that first caught Amorim's attention, Hutchinson confirmed it had stuck with both of them.
"Yes, I remember the goal. As I said before, in my first match against Amorim I did well. He said I impressed him and I think that is very important. Since I arrived he has been helping me a lot, he talks to me often: he has been truly exceptional with me," he said.
Hutchinson also revealed the tactical warning Amorim gave him during their first conversation about the demands of Serie A.
"That's the first thing Amorim told me when we spoke on the phone for the first time: he told me I'll need to dismantle low blocks because sometimes teams will play with a deep defensive line. I think I have the qualities to do that and I can't wait to get out on the pitch," he said.
The 22-year-old previously helped Ipswich Town win promotion to the Premier League and was part of England's Under-21 side that won the European Championship in 2025, before a modest debut season at Forest that included just one goal in 41 appearances.
