Christian Pulisic opened the scoring after six minutes, and Omari Hutchinson struck in the 65th minute to secure AC Milan’s second successive Serie A victory.
“I’m very proud of the performance the team put in today,” Amorim said. “We suffered a little less than we did against Atalanta and found some good combinations in attack. Now, though, we are already thinking about Bologna.”
Amorim was particularly pleased with Davide Bartesaghi’s attacking contribution.
“Bartesaghi has great energy. When I arrived, people spoke about him as a defensively minded player, but I see a wide player who knows how to attack. He can cross and attack the final metres well. He is working very hard to keep improving.”
The Milan coach also backed Sankhoun Diawara after the youngster made his debut following a difficult European result.
“He doesn’t yet have experience in Serie A, and it was my job to give him the right instructions. I would say he did well,” Amorim said. “At this moment, there is no need to motivate the team. They know what they have to do, they train to recover, and we are ready for the pressure of winning every game.
“We have to work to improve as much as possible, not only tactically and technically but mentally too. We have a lot to work on and we can do much better.”
Udinese coach Kosta Runjaic accepted the defeat but felt his side had shown more life than in their previous match against Lecce.
“I respect the opinion and, of course, accept tonight’s defeat, which does not help us,” he said. “Today, however, I saw a team that was alive and that clearly has to work. Compared with the game against Lecce, we are on a better path.
“We conceded very early, helping an opponent with experience and quality. Starting like that makes things more difficult. Milan know how to take chances like those. We had opportunities to threaten, but we didn’t take them.”
Runjaic acknowledged Milan could have won by a wider margin, while insisting Udinese might have reached half-time level.
“Milan could have scored a couple more goals. But, if things had gone as they could have, it wasn’t impossible to go into the break level and then compete in the second half.”
He also highlighted defensive lapses ahead of Udinese’s next fixture.
“We want to win every game. First, we have to keep a clean sheet. The feeling is that every shot against us can become a goal.”
