"The message is that we want to share the belief that good things will come if we stay united and create this strength, this power that the club has," Alonso said.
"It has to come from us to bring this energy, but together we can achieve great things."
The Spaniard, who arrives at Stamford Bridge after a spell in charge of Real Madrid, said he was already feeling settled in his new surroundings as he prepares for his first season in the Premier League.
"We know that success is a consequence of good work, quality decisions, the good culture that we want to build," he said. "This is the beauty of such a complex process, but an enjoyable one with so many people involved.
"I want to always bring out the best in everyone, committed to the final goal, which is to be the best we can be and give our maximum. If we all share this feeling, day after day, we can be optimistic about the future. I've settled in."
Alonso went on to describe taking charge of Chelsea as both an emotional moment and a significant honour, pointing to the timing of the move and the scale of the project he has inherited.
"Timing is always important," he said. "It arrived at the right moment for everyone. I believe the potential and the opportunity to come to this club were the right ones... It's a fantastic feeling, but it's a great honour.
"To be part of this great club, one of the best in the world, with great successes in recent decades. It's a great privilege and now I can't wait to take on the challenge."
He added that the quality of the squad he inherited had excited him from the outset.
"The potential of the team and the squad excited me a lot, I found a team to work with, to create an idea of football and bring enthusiasm to the stadium and to connect with the fans, and they really like what we're doing. The environment is fantastic, wonderful. The standards are of the highest quality.
"The structure is excellent, but you have to put your soul into it. You have to give it a purpose. You have to bring good work, good energy and positivity, so that we're in a good place. I can't wait. Tomorrow I'll be with the boys."
