The Reds were scrambling late to bring in the Crystal Palace centre-back — but the deal collapsed before it could be completed, leaving Liverpool short at the back.
Warnock cannot understand why it was allowed to get that far.
“My big frustration with that is it should never get to the last day,” he told Football Presse. “How you get to the last hours thinking, ‘Oh, we’ll finally get a centre-back through the door.’ I never understand it.”
Liverpool needed a senior defender. Everyone knew it. And yet the negotiations ran out of road.
“Even if it was two days before, just get the deal done,” Warnock said. “I never understand why it gets to the last day. It’s the most frustrating thing.”
He believes timing matters — not just for Liverpool, but for Crystal Palace too.
“Why wait so long and not give Palace long enough to find theirs? Just get it done.”
Warnock’s frustration is clear: top clubs plan early, act early and remove risk.
Liverpool waited.
And now, they’re dealing with the consequences.
