The 19-year-old becomes the latest arrival at the County Ground as Swindon look to address a gap left by injury to Gavin Kilkenny, with Munda arriving having never previously featured in senior football.
Munda joined Newcastle United's academy as a nine-year-old in 2012 and has progressed through the age groups since, with his only taste of first-team involvement coming in a 2-0 pre-season friendly win over Hull City two years ago.
An England youth international, he made 31 appearances for the Magpies' Under-21 side last season, scoring three goals, and also featured in five EFL Trophy matches during loan-eligible cup outings for the club's development squad.
The versatile midfielder, capable of playing as a number 10, a number 8 or in a holding role, had made clear over the summer that he was ready to test himself away from Tyneside, and Swindon moved to complete a deal after being alerted to his availability.
Speaking to the Swindon Town website, Munda said he felt the timing was right for his first senior loan.
"I feel like the point where I am in my career now, I'm ready for it. I feel like it's a really good club to be at. We play great football, so I feel like it's a good step for me."
He also detailed the conversation that convinced him to make the move.
"I spoke to the manager, and he liked how athletic I am, how I can get round the pitch and my bit of quality on the ball, so I feel like the conversations I've had have been quite positive."
The loan gives Swindon fresh competition through the middle of the park as they continue preparations for the new League Two campaign, while offering Munda the senior experience he has been chasing since making his intentions clear earlier this year.
Kilkenny's absence had left the Robins short of options in central midfield heading into the new season, and Munda's arrival gives the club another body to call upon as the campaign gets under way.
