According to Tuttosport, Juventus have identified the 33-year-old as a cost-effective alternative to Juan Cabal, who the Turin club still intend to offload before the transfer window closes.
For Juventus, Kolašinac would represent an experienced, versatile option at the back at minimal expense, given his contract situation at Atalanta.
Kolašinac is no longer viewed as a guaranteed starter at Atalanta under new coach Maurizio Sarri for the coming season, prompting his representatives to actively explore other options for the left-footed defender.
He has already been strongly linked with a sentimental return to Schalke, the club where he came through the youth system and had two separate spells as a senior player, totalling 141 competitive appearances. Schalke are understood to have made contact over a possible transfer, though they have not pushed the move forward more concretely in recent days, leaving the door open for Juventus to make ground.
Kolašinac joined Atalanta on a free transfer from Marseille in the summer of 2023 and has been an important dressing-room figure in Bergamo, valued for his leadership as much as his performances on the pitch, having made 66 appearances for Bosnia-Herzegovina at international level.
His contract in Bergamo runs until 2027, giving Atalanta some leverage in negotiations, though the club appears increasingly open to letting him leave given his reduced role under Sarri following Gian Piero Gasperini's departure last summer. Atalanta have also lost long-serving defender Berat Djimsiti this window, who left for Saudi side Al-Diriyah after a decade in Bergamo, underlining the scale of turnover at the back as Sarri reshapes the squad.
Former Schalke favourite Edin Džeko has previously expressed hope that his compatriot would move back to Gelsenkirchen, calling a return "fantastic" for the club, though the striker was careful to stress the decision ultimately rests with Kolašinac himself.
Schalke have reportedly already tabled contract terms in the past when circumstances looked close to a deal, but a switch has yet to materialise, and Kolašinac is said to want to weigh up all his options, including the possibility of testing himself at a genuine Serie A heavyweight, before committing to a next step.
For Juventus, left-back cover has become a pressing need this summer as they continue to work through a list of alternatives to Federico Gatti and Andrea Cambiaso, with Kolašinac's versatility across a back three or back four seen as a particular asset.
