Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs confirmed the news on X on Sunday evening, posting: "Andy Robertson set to join Spurs now their Premier League status is secure. Agreement in principle already in place."
Fabrizio Romano had previously reported all terms were agreed in full, with Robertson ready to commit to the project once relegation was avoided.
Robertson, 32, makes his departure from Liverpool after nine years at Anfield in which he won nine trophies including the Champions League, two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups. He made 388 appearances for the club and leaves as one of the finest left-backs in Premier League history.
Tottenham had attempted to sign Robertson in January after injuries depleted their defensive options. Liverpool initially agreed a fee of around £5 million but ultimately declined to sanction the move mid-season. Liverpool confirmed in April that Robertson would leave when his contract expired at the end of June.
Robertson lost his starting position at Anfield to Miloš Kerkez this season and was restricted to substitute appearances and cup fixtures. He wanted regular first-team football and made clear he was open to a move when the right opportunity arose. Tottenham under Roberto De Zerbi were seen as that opportunity.
The deal had one explicit condition from the outset: Tottenham had to stay in the Premier League. João Palhinha's scrappy first-half goal against Everton on Sunday proved enough to keep them up on the final day, relegating West Ham United in the process.
Robertson will now join a club rebuilding under De Zerbi, who has made clear that leadership and experience are at the top of his summer priorities. The Scot's arrival addresses a clear need — and brings a player who has delivered at the highest level for a decade.
