Real Madrid have confirmed that Antonio Rüdiger has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2027.

The announcement ends recent speculation over the defender’s future, with his previous deal set to run into the final stages and interest emerging from several European clubs. Rüdiger, 33, joined Real Madrid from Chelsea on a free transfer in 2022 and has since become a regular figure in the Spanish side’s defensive unit. The Germany international has made 182 competitive appearances for the club across all competitions, contributing eight goals and four assists from centre-back.

His presence has been a key part of Real Madrid’s back line during a period of continued domestic and European competition. The extension had been widely anticipated following reports that negotiations between the club and player were close to completion. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano had previously indicated that an agreement had been reached in principle, with only formal confirmation remaining.

Real Madrid have now made that official through their club channels. Before the extension was finalised, Rüdiger had been linked with a potential move away from Spain.

Rüdiger has maintained a prominent role for both club and country in recent seasons. For Germany, he has earned 83 caps and contributed five assists alongside three goals at international level.

His leadership and aggressive defending style have made him an important figure for both squads. At Real Madrid, his experience has been particularly valued during transitional phases in defence, with the club relying on his consistency across multiple competitions.

The extension ensures continuity at centre-back as Real Madrid continue to balance domestic ambitions with European campaigns. It also provides stability in an area where squad planning had been under discussion due to expiring contracts and potential market interest.

With his future now settled, Rüdiger will remain part of Real Madrid’s defensive plans for the coming seasons as the club looks to maintain its competitive edge in Spain and in Europe.
