Lema was born in Muxía in 2010 and is regarded as one of the most technically gifted players of his age in Spain. He is already a Spain youth international and has attracted attention from multiple top clubs, with Madrid moving to the front of the queue after receiving what Marca described as "excellent internal reports."
The player is a left-footed winger capable of playing on either flank, combining technical skill and directness with a confidence — described in Galicia as "descaro" — that has stood out in competitions against older players. His profile has been compared at academy level to that of Álvaro Carreras, another player who left Deportivo's youth ranks for Madrid before eventually making it to the senior level via Manchester United, Preston, Granada and Benfica.
The precedent of Carreras is instructive. Real Madrid have a record of identifying and extracting talent from Deportivo's academy, and a more recent example — forward Noel López — also moved to the Bernabéu from Abegondo, though without ultimately establishing himself at senior level.
Deportivo are aware of Madrid's interest and will not block the move if the player's family decide to accept. Lema would join Real Madrid's youth setup rather than the first team, but the weight of interest from the Spanish champions at this stage of his development signals the level of expectation surrounding him.
At 15, any formal transfer would be subject to Spanish football federation regulations governing the movement of youth players between clubs. Whether Lema makes the journey west will depend on the conversations between both clubs and the player's family in the coming weeks.
