Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister as they assess their midfield options, but exits must come first before any move can progress.

Real Madrid have not lost sight of Mac Allister as they weigh their options in midfield this summer, though José Mourinho's side are prioritising exits before committing to further additions, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Liverpool midfielder remains on the list of candidates as Real Madrid's recruitment team considers which profile to pursue, with Mac Allister one of several names under consideration rather than a confirmed primary target.

Liverpool, under new manager Andoni Iraola, are open to selling the 27-year-old Argentina international if a satisfactory offer arrives. Mac Allister endured a difficult 2025-26 season at Anfield, drawing widespread criticism for a drop in form that coincided with Liverpool's broader struggles. His contract at the club runs until 2028.

A move has not materialised in the opening weeks of the window. Mac Allister's father and agent, Carlos, denied last month that any direct contact had taken place between Madrid and the player's camp, describing circulating reports as false.

The player himself has been measured. Speaking to TyC Sports, he said: "I read the rumours and the news reaches me, but the important thing is the present.

"I'm fine at Liverpool, I have a lot of respect for the club and I don't think it's necessary to talk about other institutions."

Real Madrid's midfield recruitment remains fluid. Enzo Fernández of Chelsea and Argentine compatriot Mac Allister are among the names Madrid have been connected with, but the club's immediate focus is on shaping its outgoings before returning to the transfer market.
