Real Madrid join race for Vlahovic as Serbian prepares to leave Juventus

Real Madrid have held discussions about signing Dusan Vlahovic this summer, with the Serbia international set to leave Juventus when his contract expires at the end of June.

The 26-year-old will become a free agent having failed to agree a new deal with the Turin club despite months of negotiations. Juventus have offered a renewal on significantly reduced wages, pushing for a salary of around €6 million per year — roughly half his current earnings — but Vlahovic has not accepted the terms.

He has been linked extensively with Barcelona, Atletico de Madrid, Bayern Munich and AC Milan. Transfer expert Matteo Moretto reported this week that Vlahovic has been offered to one of the Spanish giants, with Real Madrid now confirmed as the latest club to explore the situation.

Incoming Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho is reported to have given a green light to the potential recruitment of Vlahovic, according to TMW.

The striker joined Juventus from Fiorentina in January 2022 for around €80 million and has been a consistent scorer without delivering the decisive performances the club hoped for. He has managed eight goals and two assists in 22 competitive appearances this season.

Juventus had hoped to sell Vlahovic last summer to raise funds but could not find a buyer willing to meet their asking price. He stayed and has now run down his contract to its conclusion.

At 26 and arriving without a transfer fee, Vlahovic represents one of the most attractive free agent options in European football this summer. The competition for his signature reflects that.
