Real Madrid could sacrifice stars to fund more deals

Real Madrid's summer rebuild may not be over, but further arrivals could depend on a significant clear-out as José Mourinho continues shaping his squad ahead of the new season.

According to El Debate, Real Madrid have already strengthened their finances through player sales and wage savings, yet club officials believe more departures will be required before pursuing further additions in defence, midfield and attack. The report claims the club has banked €51 million from the Nico Paz deal, €17 million from the sale of Víctor Muñoz and removed approximately €52 million in salaries following the exits of Dani Carvajal, Dani Ceballos and David Alaba.

Those savings are said to have helped create room after the arrivals of Ibrahima Konaté, Marc Cucurella and Bernardo Silva, while Denzel Dumfries is still awaiting official confirmation despite being widely expected to complete his move. Mourinho is also understood to want another defender, a midfielder and a marquee attacking signing before the window closes.

The report adds that Real Madrid are still planning to offload six more players across the squad.

Real Madrid left-back Fran García, centre-back Raúl Asencio and midfielder Eduardo Camavinga are all said to have been informed they can leave this summer.

It is also claimed that defender Álvaro Carreras, attacking midfielder Franco Mastantuono and striker Gonzalo García could become available if suitable offers arrive.

Even those departures may not generate enough money for the calibre of signing Madrid are targeting.

The report suggests the club continue to admire Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez, although deals of that size would require considerably greater financial flexibility.

As a result, El Debate claims Real Madrid have not ruled out selling one of their biggest assets.

Midfielders Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni are identified as the leading candidates should the club decide a major sale is needed to finance another blockbuster addition, although there has been no indication from the club that either player has been placed on the market. For now, the prospect remains part of Madrid's wider planning rather than an imminent transfer.
