Despite the full transfer, Madrid have ensured they retain a degree of control over the player’s long-term future through a structured clause package.
The agreement includes a buy-back option set at €80 million for the summer of 2027, alongside a future matching right should Como receive and accept an external offer for the midfielder.
That mechanism ensures Real Madrid maintain a pathway to re-sign the player, even after agreeing to his full transfer to Italy.
The move is understood to have been strongly influenced by Como head coach Cesc Fàbregas, who reportedly pushed internally for the deal to be completed as a priority for the club’s long-term planning.
The Spaniard is said to have viewed Nico Paz as a central figure in his squad project, with his intervention proving decisive during discussions at board level.
"After many weeks of reflection, I have decided that the best option for my career at this stage is to stay at Como for another year."
The statement was part of a joint announcement confirming the agreement between Real Madrid, Como and the player, with all parties releasing the same official wording.
Paz has framed the decision as one centred on continuity and development, with the player highlighting the importance of regular football in his current environment.
The arrangement also closes off immediate speculation linking him with alternative pathways, including a potential return to Madrid this summer or interest from other European clubs.
