According to journalist Juan Velázquez, three clubs have entered the race for the 25-year-old: Real Betis, Elche and Rayo Vallecano. Any deal will need to account for Girona, who retain 50% of any future sale after developing Chaira through their academy before his move to Oviedo.
Chaira contributed six goals and two assists last season as Oviedo struggled to create chances following their promotion back to LaLiga, establishing himself as one of the more effective attacking outlets in a side that often found goals hard to come by. He is under contract at Carlos Tartiere until 2028, with a release clause in the region of €7m, though his market value is estimated at closer to €4m.
With Oviedo now facing a return to the second tier, the club appears resigned to losing some of its better performers, and Chaira looks increasingly likely to be one of the names to leave this summer.
The three-way interest from Betis, Elche and Rayo Vallecano sets up a genuine battle for his signature within LaLiga itself, with all three sides looking to add width and creativity to their squads ahead of the new campaign.
Girona's sell-on clause means the Catalan club stand to benefit significantly from whichever deal is eventually struck, adding an extra layer of interest to how the situation develops. For Oviedo, retaining value from departures like Chaira's is likely to be an important part of funding their push to return to the top flight at the first attempt.
Chaira came through Girona's academy before a series of loan spells in Segunda División and Primera RFEF with clubs including Ibiza, Costa Brava, San Fernando and Mirandés, eventually earning a permanent move to Oviedo in 2024.
He established himself as a regular starter during their promotion campaign and continued in that role once Oviedo returned to the top flight, developing into one of the squad's most dependable attacking threats despite the team's broader struggles in front of goal.
