Speaking to Radio Napoli Centrale, Di Fusco also discussed the possibility of Napoli changing formation, Noa Lang's performances and how the club should manage young players during the international break.
On the tactical question, Di Fusco said Napoli have enough quality to operate in different systems.
“It depends on the players available. With the squad at full strength, they can afford to vary between two or three formations. You have to see how the players are doing.”
Hojlund's situation was one of the main talking points, with Di Fusco arguing that the Denmark international needs more support rather than simply greater pressure to score.
“We need to help him. He fights, but they don't give him good balls to score from. He needs assistance. The last good ball he received came from De Bruyne. But that was last season.”
Di Fusco also pointed to a wider issue involving Napoli's attacking play and Lang's tendency to beat opponents before struggling with the final decision.
“I see Lang taking players on, dribbling, but then... The difference is the final choice, the final pass. When it is time to put the ball in for the striker, it is lost. I think something different is needed.”
The former goalkeeper also believes the international break could be particularly useful for Napoli at this point in the season.
“It is useful for everyone, for Allegri and the players. It is also a psychological matter. A break this long has never been more positive for Napoli at this moment. Hopefully they return from international duty healthy.”
Di Fusco's comments come with Napoli still assessing how best to balance their tactical options and get more from their attacking players.
The focus on Hojlund is particularly significant, with the striker requiring better opportunities if he is to turn his involvement into goals.
