Newcastle United have renewed their interest in Real Betis winger Ez Abde after missing out on Víctor Muñoz to Liverpool, with Betis holding firm on their €60 million release clause.

Newcastle United have refocused their attacking recruitment on Abde of Real Betis after Liverpool hijacked their move for Víctor Muñoz, who had chosen the Anfield club ahead of St James' Park. The Moroccan winger is now Newcastle's priority wide target for the summer.

According to Diario AS, Newcastle are preparing to test Real Betis's resolve over Abde, whose release clause stands at €60 million — a figure the Seville club are treating as their minimum. Barcelona retain a twenty per cent sell-on from Abde's 2023 move to Betis for €7.5 million, meaning any sale requires careful negotiation on Betis's side to ensure they receive adequate net proceeds.

Abde, 24, is out of the World Cup. He suffered a medial collateral ligament injury in his right knee during a pre-tournament training session with Morocco and is currently completing his rehabilitation. The injury is expected to clear over the summer, and Newcastle are monitoring his recovery before committing to a formal approach.

The winger had an outstanding 2025-26 season under Manuel Pellegrini, contributing fifteen goals and thirteen assists in forty-one appearances across all competitions as Betis secured Champions League qualification.

Chelsea have also emerged as rivals for Abde, adding competitive pressure and giving Betis further leverage in any potential negotiation.
