Ziolkowski joined Roma from Legia Warsaw last summer in a โฌ6 million deal. He came through the Polonia Warsaw academy before establishing himself at Legia, where his performances โ including against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Conference League quarter-final โ brought him to wider attention across Europe.
Polish outlet sport.pl report that Newcastle's interest is genuine, and that they are not alone โ clubs from Italy, France and the Netherlands have also made enquiries about the Poland Under-20 international.
Life under Gian Piero Gasperini at Roma has been harder to crack. His minutes in Serie A have been limited, though the Europa League has given him a platform. After a difficult start against Viktoria Plzen, when he was hauled off after 30 minutes, he has improved considerably since.
Those close to the player are not ruling anything out.
"He is not disappointing the manager," a source told sport.pl. "He trains very well, has the best physical results of his career and has worked hard physically. We are evaluating every possible solution to allow Jan to play with continuity, including a potential departure."
At 20, with 19 Roma appearances and a senior Poland cap already to his name, Ziolkowski is exactly the kind of profile clubs will move for. Whether Roma are willing to listen is another matter entirely.
