The 23-year-old Germany international told Bayern’s club magazine 51 that he was surprised when the Bavarian club first showed interest, but needed little convincing once the opportunity arrived.
“To be completely honest: I didn't think that Bayern would ever contact me. And then it happened so quickly. When my agent told me about the interest, I immediately said: I don't want to hear anything else,” Brown said.
Bayern Munich paid around €50 million to sign the defender from Frankfurt during the summer.
For Brown, the appeal went beyond joining one of Germany’s biggest clubs. He was born in Bavaria and was also able to remain in Germany while taking the next step in his career.
“I come from Bavaria, can stay in Germany and move to the best team in the country, to one of the biggest clubs in the world,” he said.
Brown also explained that discussions with Bayern’s hierarchy and head coach Vincent Kompany strengthened his belief that the move was right for him.
The defender had already established himself at Frankfurt before earning international recognition with Germany, and Bayern’s interest represented a significant step in his career.
Once the conversations with the club and Kompany had taken place, Brown said there was no longer any uncertainty over his decision.
“So there were no two opinions. For me, it was immediately clear that I wanted to go to Bayern,” he said.
Brown has now joined a Bayern squad competing on multiple fronts, having made the move from a Bundesliga rival after attracting attention with his performances at Frankfurt.
His comments underline how quickly the transfer developed from an unexpected approach into a straightforward decision for the defender, who had no interest in considering alternative destinations once Bayern made their interest known.
