Monza's search for a new number one gathered pace after head coach Ivan Juric criticised Semuel Pizzignacco's performance in the club's Serie A opener against Inter, a display that was followed by Pizzignacco's exit to Carrarese in Serie B.
The player identified to fill the gap is Noel Törnqvist, a 24-year-old Swede who returned to Como in January from a loan back home at Mjällby. According to reports, the move is close to being finalised as a loan with an option to buy, handing Törnqvist the kind of opportunity he has lacked since arriving in Italy.
Como's own business centres on Samuele Ricci, whose move from AC Milan is now down to the final details. The deal is being structured as a paid loan worth €2m, with an option to buy set at €22m plus a further €1m in bonuses — a package that meets Milan's roughly €25m valuation of the midfielder in full, with Como also covering his wages for the season.
Ricci is simply waiting for the green light from Milan to put pen to paper on a deal that would bring him under Cesc Fàbregas at Como; he was left out of Rúben Amorim's squad for Milan's home fixture against Venezia, a strong signal that his exit is now only a matter of time.
Como sporting director Carlalberto Ludi, however, was reluctant to call the deal done.
"We rate Ricci, but as of today there's nothing concrete. A potential midfielder would be our final piece of transfer business — we're not sure yet whether we'll go for it, so we're taking our time," Ludi said, striking a more cautious tone than the reporting around the deal's near-complete status would suggest.
