Former West Ham United winger Matt Jarvis believes club legend Mark Noble is perfectly placed to influence the future of the club in his role as director — thanks to his deep-rooted connection and understanding of what it means to represent West Ham.

Speaking to Football Presse, Jarvis described Noble — a one-club man who spent his entire playing career at West Ham — as the embodiment of the club’s identity.

“Noble’s Mr West Ham,” Jarvis said.

“He’s been a top, top pro all the way through.”

Now working behind the scenes, Noble has transitioned into a leadership role off the pitch — and Jarvis believes his influence is already being felt, particularly within the academy and younger age groups.

“I think he has a big influence on the younger players,” Jarvis said.

“I know that he sometimes goes down and joins in training with the younger groups.”

That presence, Jarvis believes, creates a direct link between the club’s traditions and its future — something few clubs can replicate.

“That’s got a huge benefit throughout the whole of the academy,” he said, “and making your way up into the first team.”

Noble’s experience at the highest level, combined with his understanding of the club’s culture, makes him uniquely suited to the role.

“He’s got that profile, he’s got that knowledge and ability to nurture everyone,” Jarvis explained.

“And he loves the club — so it’s only going to be a benefit.”

For West Ham, maintaining identity while evolving competitively has long been a challenge. Jarvis believes Noble can help bridge that gap.

His presence ensures that the standards, values and expectations that defined his playing career continue to shape the next generation.

In an era where many clubs rely on external appointments, West Ham’s decision to promote from within could prove crucial.

Because as Jarvis makes clear, having someone who truly understands the club is invaluable.

And in Mark Noble, West Ham have exactly that.
