Manchester United were unable to add a new left-back during the summer and currently have Luke Shaw as their established senior option in that position. Patrick Dorgu has yet to settle on a definitive role, while Harry Amass is not currently viewed as ready for regular senior football.
The position could become more pressing once United's Champions League campaign begins and the number of fixtures increases.
Raum has emerged as a player to watch because his contract with Leipzig runs until the summer of 2027 and there is uncertainty over whether he will agree a new deal.
Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus are also considering the 28-year-old as they assess their own left-back situation. Andrea Cambiaso is injured, while Juan Cabal has been excluded from the club's plans, leaving Zeki Celik operating at left-back despite normally playing on the right.
Juventus are therefore examining the market and are reported to view Raum as an option, but the Italian club fears United could compete for his signature.
Raum has been Leipzig's captain and has continued to contribute in the final third from left-back. During the 2025/26 season, he recorded seven assists and three goals.
His contract situation could make him an attractive option if Leipzig decide they need to sell rather than risk losing him later in his deal.
United's lack of depth at left-back has already been evident, with Shaw the only senior player whose primary position is on that side. Dorgu can operate there but has also been used elsewhere, while Amass remains outside the regular first-team picture.
Raum's experience and leadership would also add another senior option to Michael Carrick's squad.
Juventus are assessing the same situation, but Gazzetta dello Sport identifies Manchester United as the 'main competition' for the German international if the transfer develops.
