The Milan-focused journalist has previously reported an interest in the Liverpool captain and remains convinced that the possibility should not be dismissed.
Pellegatti compared the situation with his previous claims surrounding Zlatan Ibrahimovic, recalling the reaction he received before the Swedish striker eventually joined Milan.
“They had made fun of me in January before Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived, and he arrived a year later,” Pellegatti said.
He also provided further detail on his belief that AC Milan could eventually move for Van Dijk, whose Liverpool contract is due to expire in 2027.
“I continue to say that Gerry Cardinale's phrase was: ‘Either we will take him now by paying for him, or we will take him next year for free’.”
Pellegatti insists his claims about Van Dijk are based on information rather than simply speculation.
“I said that Van Dijk would arrive sooner or later. I assure you it wasn't a name thrown out there just to say something.”
