Al-Gharafa striker Joselu has revealed he hopes to reunite with his brother-in-law Dani Carvajal in the final years of their careers, though the Spain forward admits uncertainty surrounds both of their futures with the World Cup dominating all decisions.

Speaking on Iker Casillas' podcast, Joselu was open about a wish to share a dressing room with Carvajal, who becomes a free agent from next Wednesday when his Real Madrid contract expires.

"Hopefully I can convince him and we can both coincide in our final years somewhere, it would be great, especially for family reasons," Joselu said.

"But right now everything is very much on hold with the World Cup and neither he knows what he's going to do nor do I know if I'm going to renew, if I'm going to stay there.

"Everything is up in the air. Hopefully football can give us a couple of years together, if not in the same team, maybe in the same country."

The striker has been based in Qatar with Al-Gharafa for two years since leaving Europe, while Carvajal ends a 13-year stint with the Spanish club after failing to earn a new contract following a difficult injury-hit campaign. The prospect of the pair ending up at the same club in the final chapter of their careers is clearly something Joselu has given considerable thought to.

For now, both men's next steps remain entirely unresolved, with the World Cup acting as a pause on all conversations about the future. Joselu's candid comments on Casillas' podcast suggest the family dimension adds an extra layer to a decision that might otherwise be straightforward for two experienced players assessing their options.

Whether Carvajal shares his brother-in-law's enthusiasm for a reunion in the same shirt will become clearer once the tournament concludes and the business of the summer transfer window resumes in earnest.
