The pair have missed the Reds’ last three matches after picking up injuries during the victory over Brentford earlier this month. Szoboszlai aggravated a hamstring problem and was forced off, while Muñoz continued after a knee knock and scored Liverpool’s equaliser.
Manager Andoni Iraola has not ruled either player out, although he stopped short of confirming they would be available.
“I think they have a chance. But I don’t know for sure if they will be involved or not. We still have two days, so I think they have a chance, yes,” he said on Friday.
Liverpool will assess the pair ahead of the match, with their availability potentially giving Iraola more options against the reigning Premier League champions. The Reds have won five consecutive matches in all competitions and can move within two points of Arsenal with victory.
Jeremie Frimpong is expected to remain unavailable until after the November international break, while long-term absentees Giovanni Leoni, Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitike are also sidelined. The possible returns of Szoboszlai and Muñoz would offer welcome depth during a demanding run of fixtures.
The match concludes four successive home fixtures. Liverpool have beaten Villarreal and Brighton before eliminating Chelsea from the Carabao Cup on penalties, and now face an Arsenal side setting the pace in the league.
The recent run has helped restore the connection between the team and the Anfield crowd, with captain Virgil van Dijk speaking about the renewed energy inside the stadium. Iraola believes that support is not simply a consequence of winning matches, but comes from the effort and commitment shown by the players.
“It’s not just winning,” he said. “At Anfield everyone feels when the team goes for it, when everyone is giving everything, when everyone is trying his best, our supporters will be there to help the team.
“Even when we’ve started losing in some of the last games they have been there and have helped massively. The other day against Chelsea, I thought the atmosphere was really, really good.
“It’s nice to recover and feel these things at home as we have a big advantage over other teams because this atmosphere we can create is special.”
Iraola warned against reading too much into Liverpool’s results when assessing their title prospects. He described Arsenal as formidable, and said his side would need to be at their best.
