"Hi everyone, hi Inter fans. I want to tell you that I'm very happy to be here. Thank you, and I can't wait to see so many of you at the stadium," Provedel said after signing his contract in the club's trophy room. He has put pen to paper on a deal running until 30 June 2029.
Inter Milan's other priority this summer is finding a replacement for Denzel Dumfries, who left for Real Madrid after the Spanish club triggered his €20m release clause.
Anan Khalaili of Union Saint-Gilloise has emerged as the club's clear preference for the right-back role, and Inter have raised their offer in an attempt to close the gap with the Belgian club.
Union Saint-Gilloise have so far rejected Inter's opening approaches as too low, holding out for a total package of around €30m for the Israeli international. In response, Inter have increased their proposal to €23m in fixed fees, with add-ons that could take the deal's value up to €25-26m.
The gap between the two clubs has narrowed to a few million euros, leaving room for an agreement to be found.
Much will depend on how willing both clubs are to compromise in the coming days. There is no final agreement yet, but contacts are expected to continue as they search for a structure that satisfies both parties.
Inter are keen to move quickly rather than let the negotiation drag on, with the aim of finalising the deal by the end of the week so head coach Cristian Chivu can have his new right-back in place following Dumfries' departure.
Khalaili, 22, has already reached an agreement in principle over personal terms with Inter, having verbally accepted a five-year contract worth around €1.8m per season. That leaves the fee as the only outstanding issue between the two clubs, with Napoli having also shown interest in the player before being slowed by their need to sell before they can buy.
Union Saint-Gilloise are aware that 15% of any transfer fee must be passed on to Maccabi Haifa, the club that developed Khalaili before his move to Belgium, which has hardened their stance in the negotiations.
Provedel's arrival gives Inter greater competition and depth between the posts, with the 32-year-old having established himself as a reliable Serie A goalkeeper during his time at Lazio.
