Manchester City are facing a range of possible sanctions, including a points deduction or even expulsion from the Premier League, although no punishment has yet been determined and the club are expected to appeal.
Haaland is among the players whose future could come under scrutiny if City were relegated.
The Norway striker renewed his contract with City in January last year, extending his deal until 2034. However, reports from England state that there is no release clause allowing him to leave automatically in the event of relegation.
Haaland could nevertheless have the option of leaving around 2030 if he decides to end his time at the Etihad. According to the report, his potential transfer fee would decrease as his contract moves towards its conclusion.
His agent, Rafaela Pimenta, has previously spoken about ensuring her clients retain control over their futures.
“Always, one of my priorities as an agent is to offer the player what I call ‘the key to the door’,” Pimenta told AS.
“When the player goes to a club, I do everything to create the conditions so that the key to the door is in his hands. And if tomorrow you can no longer stand being there because you don't like it, or they don't pay you well or because your wife wants to live in Paris? Then you leave, right?”
“I don't like it when my player is not free to decide. The worker must have the right to be transferred, to decide his own life. I invite fans to think that players are also people.”
Pimenta added: “I have made all the contracts for this agency, which was owned by Mino Raiola, over the last 25 years. All of them. There was never a time when a player said ‘I want to leave’ and could not do so.”
Haaland is reported to earn around €30m net per year, a salary that would be difficult for a Championship club to sustain should City suffer relegation.
For now, however, Haaland remains under contract at City until 2034, with the club’s appeal and the eventual sanctions still to be resolved.
