The Austrian's 60th match in charge ended 1-0 against Rayo Vallecano, with Jean-Philippe Mateta's second-half goal delivering the club's first-ever European trophy and completing a chapter of Palace history that contains three trophies โ the first three in the club's 156-year existence.
Speaking to TNT Sports immediately after the final whistle, Glasner was measured and warm in equal measure.
"I was talking to the players in the meeting today โ you hear the fans thanking us for giving them the best day of their lives and I said thank you to the players, because it is the same for me," he said. "The players and fans give me and my family, who are here today, great days in our lives. That is what I really appreciate."
He spoke about the trust his squad placed in him โ not just in the final stages of this season but across two and a half years of building a mentality from nothing.
"The players always listened to me, supported me, trusted in me and believed in what I told them. I can be very demanding. A huge thank you to the players and all of the staff and of course all of the fans."
He gave a specific example of what that mentality looks like in practice โ a detail from Monday, two days before the final, when the temperature in London hit 34 degrees.
"JP Mateta and Mitchell had just come back from the Cryo chamber. That shows the mindset of the players. They are investing so much and that is why we can lift another trophy."
It was Mateta, of course, who scored the winning goal โ his first away from Selhurst Park since September, delivered at the most consequential moment of the season.
Glasner described the game accurately: a cautious first half, an extraordinary 15 minutes after the break in which Crystal Palace took the lead and Rayo Vallecano were rocked, and then a tense but controlled defensive performance to the finish.
"The game was how we expected but I think we played an incredible 15 minutes after half-time. We defended so well at the end. A fantastic evening."
He was asked whether he could believe this was his last game in charge. The answer was honest.
"Right now I can't even believe it is the last game. It is a good chapter to read in the Crystal Palace book, but other good chapters will follow."
He leaves a club transformed. The work of identifying his successor begins now.
