Fiorentina are closing in on the permanent sale of midfielder Lorenzo Amatucci to Deportivo La Coruna, even as the club push forward with a separate move for Real Madrid defender Victor Valdepenas.

After extended negotiations, Fiorentina and Deportivo have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of the 2004-born midfielder, who is set to embark on a new chapter of his career in Spanish football.

According to reports, Amatucci will sign a five-year contract with the Galician club, who have opted to build their LaLiga project around him.

The move opens a new phase for a player who came through Fiorentina's academy but never managed to establish himself at senior level, having spent recent seasons out on loan at Ternana, Salernitana and, most recently, Las Palmas, where he made 42 appearances and provided four assists last season, form that convinced Deportivo to make their move.

While one midfielder heads for the exit, Fiorentina are pushing to bring in reinforcements at the back, with the club now among those chasing Valdepenas, a young Real Madrid defender regarded as one of the most promising talents to come through the club's academy.

Fiorentina moved early in the race for the 2006-born centre-back and are currently understood to be the club furthest along in talks, having got ahead of the competition.

Bologna have also shown strong interest in the Spaniard, but Fiorentina, according to reports, remain in the stronger position for now.

A final decision will hinge on Real Madrid's own assessment of Valdepenas during pre-season, with head coach Jose Mourinho keen to run the rule over the defender in person before giving the green light to any potential departure.

Real Madrid are believed to be seeking around โ‚ฌ5million for a permanent sale, while insisting on a buy-back clause being included in any deal, and Valdepenas' contract also contains a โ‚ฌ50million release clause running through to 2029.

A natural left-footer, Valdepenas combines physical presence with pace, qualities that allow him to operate both as a left-back and as a central defender, a versatility that has made him a coveted profile in the market.

He made 37 official appearances for Real Madrid Castilla last season, scoring three goals and providing an assist, and has already made his La Liga debut with the first team.
