The Bundesliga club are targeting a defender capable of making an immediate impact at a high level, according to Bild, with sporting director Markus Krösche and head coach Adi HĂŒtter both said to view the issue as urgent.
Eintracht Frankfurt's financial resources remain limited, but the report suggests a deal is being pursued "with high pressure" as the window nears its end.
Bild has linked two candidates with Bundesliga experience to the Frankfurt job. Diogo Leite, 27, is a free agent after his contract with Union Berlin expired following several seasons at the club, meaning Eintracht would face no transfer fee for the left-footed Portuguese defender, though he is reported to have interest from elsewhere and would not come cheap on wages.
Thilo Kehrer, 29, has also been discussed internally. The German international worked under HĂŒtter at Monaco, where the head coach signed him from West Ham in 2024 and turned him into a regular starter.
Monaco are said to be open to letting Kehrer leave this summer, and HĂŒtter is understood to rate the defender highly and would welcome a reunion. However, Bild reports it remains uncertain whether Frankfurt could afford the move.
Frankfurt's captain, Robin Koch, was also forced off with a concussion during the Brentford defeat after a collision shortly before half-time, though the club later confirmed scans had ruled out any structural injury.
Beyond the search for defensive reinforcements, reports in Germany suggest Frankfurt are also weighing up potential changes in goal following further errors from Kaua Santos during the same match, with Freiburg's Noah Atubolu among the names under consideration.
With the Bundesliga season kickoff now close, HĂŒtter and Krösche face a race against time to strengthen the squad before the transfer deadline, having already spent much of their limited budget elsewhere this summer.
