Ederson has confirmed his move to Manchester United is almost complete, saying it is basically done after a whirlwind week that included a World Cup call-up and his tournament debut for Brazil against Haiti.

Ederson's whirlwind few days have taken him from a โ‚ฌ48m move to Manchester United to a surprise World Cup call-up with Brazil, and finally to his tournament debut off the bench against Haiti.

The Atalanta midfielder, whose move to Old Trafford is reported as effectively complete with only the formal announcement still to come, was called into Carlo Ancelotti's squad in North America to replace an injured team-mate. He barely had time to process the transfer news before featuring for nine minutes in Brazil's World Cup campaign.

Speaking to Sky Sport after the match in Philadelphia, Ederson confirmed where things stand with his move.

"Now I have to wait. Right now, I have to make the most of this moment above all... then we'll see. It's almost completely done, basically," Ederson said, before turning his attention back to the tournament.

"But I have to make the most of this moment. I'm here, it's a beautiful thing, and you have to enjoy it to the fullest always."

Ederson's own words leave little room for doubt: he will be playing for Manchester United next season, lining up at Old Trafford under manager Michael Carrick. The move will also bring Champions League football, with Manchester United aiming to use the new arrival as part of their push to become competitive in the Premier League once again.

The 26-year-old's rise has been rapid even by the standards of modern football. A regular for Atalanta this past season, his form had already attracted interest from United before his World Cup call-up added an unexpected international dimension to an already significant few days in his career.

His brief cameo against Haiti represented his first taste of senior World Cup action, a marker that adds further weight to a transfer dossier that already included a strong domestic campaign in Serie A. For United, securing a player entering the tournament with this kind of momentum, just as his market value appeared set to rise further, represents a deal completed at exactly the right moment.
