Manea discussed the Romanian international’s recovery in an interview with Sport.ro, expressing confidence that the 24-year-old can put his injury problems behind him and continue developing in Serie A.
“I never had any doubts and was always convinced he would come back stronger than before, because he is better prepared and more motivated,” Manea said.
“He managed to respond to a terrible situation, such as the injury, by continuing to move forward. I am sure he will not have problems again in the future.”
Dragusin suffered a serious injury during his time at Tottenham before moving to Fiorentina on loan. His agent believes the defender still has plenty of time to reach his peak.
“Remember that Radu is only 24 and has an entire career ahead of him. A player like him reaches full maturity between 26 and 27,” Manea said.
He also pointed to Dragusin’s experience at the highest level, including two seasons in the Premier League, winning the Europa League and Coppa Italia with Juventus, and representing Romania at a European Championship.
Despite speculation about his next move, Manea insisted that a transfer is not currently being considered.
“At the moment, we are not thinking about a transfer,” he said. “I am convinced he will return to the market value he had before the injury, and that the clubs previously interested in him will come forward again.”
The agent added that any future departure would need to represent a step forward in the defender’s career.
“If he leaves Fiorentina, we would want him to join a higher-level club. For now, the priority is to do well in the Viola shirt. We will see what happens in two or three years, but I do not think he will leave Florence before two years.”
Manea also defended Dragusin following his dismissal while playing for Romania against Poland, arguing that the red card was unjustified.
“In my opinion, Radu’s sending-off was unfair. There was no foul, and Lewandowski should have been booked for simulation,” he said, claiming the striker had moved his legs backwards and gone to ground without contact.
Manea argued that the referee’s decision to show a red card was the key mistake and questioned why VAR had not intervened.
For now, the agent’s message is that Dragusin should concentrate on his performances for Fiorentina, with any discussion of a move to a bigger club deferred until further down the line.
