Kevin De Bruyne scored twice as Napoli beat Frosinone 3-0 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, with Noa Lang also finding the net in a convincing victory for the hosts.

Napoli made an early statement by creating several chances, but their coach felt the team could have settled the contest sooner. De Bruyne opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 29th minute before Lang doubled the advantage three minutes later. De Bruyne then completed the victory in stoppage time, finishing a move assisted by Giovane.

The Napoli coach was pleased with the team’s attitude but warned that missed opportunities had allowed Frosinone to remain in the contest for longer than necessary.

“The team played a good match; it is a question of attitude, not formations,” he said. “We had two or three chances straight away and should have closed the game in the first half. Instead, we conceded counter-attacks and spent energy.”

He also praised the contributions of David Neres and Benoît Badiashile, welcomed Scott McTominay’s return and defended Lorenzo Lucca after the striker made mistakes following his introduction.

“The group has great esteem for him,” the coach said, adding that De Bruyne was improving physically and had produced a good performance. He stressed that Napoli needed to recover their injured players and rebuild their fitness through matches.

Frosinone coach Massimiliano Alvini accepted that his side had been beaten by the better team, although he felt the final score was wider than the performance warranted.

“Napoli deserved the victory, perhaps by a bigger margin than the performance on the pitch indicated,” Alvini said. “We could have made better decisions. We reached dangerous areas several times when the match was still in the balance, and in the second half we could have reopened it.”

Alvini believed his players had opportunities to make the contest more competitive but lacked the precision needed in the final third. He described the defeat as a learning opportunity and said the team could work on the decisions that had prevented them from taking advantage of promising situations.

The Frosinone coach also thanked Antonio Raimondo for playing 65 minutes after spending 20 days away from team training. He praised the striker’s effort against Napoli’s experienced defence and noted that Bobzek was not fully fit.

Alvini had no major complaints about his squad’s physical preparation, although he criticised the demands placed on international players who had played four matches in ten days.

Napoli’s coach, meanwhile, emphasised the importance of finishing matches efficiently to conserve energy over a demanding season. His side ultimately made their chances count, with De Bruyne’s late second goal confirming a three-goal victory.

The result gave Napoli a welcome boost, while Frosinone were left to focus on improving their decision-making in attacking areas.
