The Austria international has joined Udinese as a free agent and explained that conversations with head coach Kosta Runjaic played a major role in his decision.
“I had many options, I was also talking to other clubs, but when I spoke with Udinese and Runjaic it was very interesting from the beginning.”

The former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich defender also highlighted his desire to help Udinese's younger players, rather than simply seeing the move as an opportunity to continue his career.
“The conversation with Runjaic was very clear, I arrive to help the team and the young players with my quality and my experience.”

Former Udinese player and coach Massimo Giacomini believes Alaba's arrival could benefit the entire squad, particularly the younger defenders.
“A champion like this brings unique experience and therefore charisma and personality. I am certain that everyone will benefit, from the coach to his defensive teammates, from Solet to the young Palma, who will be the first to grow alongside a player like this.”
Giacomini believes Alaba could operate as the left-sided defender in a back three, with Oumar Solet moving across and young Matteo Palma playing centrally.
Alaba has made clear that his focus is on helping Udinese achieve results while continuing to play the game he loves.
“The team is the most important thing. My personal objective never changes, I want to give my maximum to help the team. My objective is also to play football, to do what I love.”
