Antonio Conte has received a formal approach from Fenerbahçe worth £15m per season, but no appointment can be finalised until the Turkish club resolves its presidential election, scheduled for this weekend.

Both candidates contesting the Fenerbahçe presidency — incumbent Aziz Yıldırım and challenger Hakan Safi — have separately approached Conte since his departure from Napoli by mutual consent last month, making him a central pledge in their respective campaigns.

According to Turkish newspaper Fanatik and corroborated by La Stampa, Conte has set out his financial requirements: a minimum salary of £15m per year, plus a £5m bonus should he deliver the Super Lig title.

Safi's camp has been the more active of the two. Reports in Istanbul suggest he has largely reached an agreement with the Italian coach, and that Paolo Maldini — who Safi has recruited to lead the club's footballing operations if elected — played a significant role in brokering the discussions. The pair are said to have met in Istanbul and subsequently at the Champions League final in Budapest.

Yıldırım's side has also been in contact, with the salary demands reportedly disclosed at a meeting of Fenerbahçe supporters earlier this week.

Beyond Turkey, Conte has received two offers from Saudi Arabian clubs that would each exceed £25m annually — the level paid to Simone Inzaghi at Al-Hilal. He has also been linked with a return to the Italian national team, and has not entirely ruled out a sabbatical.

Fenerbahçe last won the Super Lig title in 2013-14. The club's election takes place on June 6 and 7, after which a new president would have the authority to formally complete a managerial appointment.

Conte won the Scudetto and the Italian Super Cup in his two seasons at Napoli before leaving by mutual consent this month.
