Michael Carrick's entire coaching staff have been handed permanent two-year contracts at Manchester United, confirming that the team which guided the club from crisis to Champions League football will continue together into next season.

Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans, Travis Binnion and Craig Mawson have all signed new deals, the club confirmed on Saturday. Fabrizio Romano reported the news earlier in the day.

Holland, 56, serves as Carrick's assistant manager and is widely regarded as the most experienced member of the group. He spent eight years as Gareth Southgate's No.2 with England, reaching the 2018 World Cup semi-final and back-to-back European Championship finals. Before his international role he worked under José Mourinho, Rafael Benítez, Roberto Di Matteo and Antonio Conte at Chelsea, contributing to the 2012 Champions League and 2016 Premier League triumphs. Carrick has described him publicly as "a very wise man."

Woodgate joined Carrick having previously worked as his assistant at Middlesbrough. The former Real Madrid and Leeds defender brings coaching experience across the defensive unit and his fluency in Spanish has helped him build relationships with several players in the United squad.

Evans, who made 373 appearances for United across two spells as a player, initially returned to the club as loan player manager before Carrick brought him into the first-team setup in January. Binnion was promoted from within the academy structure, having previously served as head of player development and a bridge between the youth and senior setups. His elevation under Darren Fletcher's brief caretaker reign was confirmed by Carrick upon taking charge.

Mawson has been United's goalkeeping coach since 2019, working under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Erik ten Hag, Ruben Amorim and now Carrick — the latter describing the stability he brings as important given the upheaval of the season.

Manchester United won 11 of 16 matches under Carrick to secure third place and a return to the Champions League.
