New Bologna coach Domenico Tedesco has dismissed transfer speculation surrounding centre-back Jhon Lucumi, with the Colombian's contract containing a €28m release clause that expires tomorrow.

The Rossoblu defender has been linked with both Juventus and Inter Milan in recent weeks. Speaking in a press conference from the club's training camp in Valles, Tedesco addressed the interest directly.

"I'm always in contact with Sartori and Di Vaio. They know what I need and I know what they need, and we're very aligned. They've been clear and straightforward with me and I'm relaxed because I've found a very healthy club."

The coach said he had been kept fully informed of the situation surrounding Lucumi throughout the process.

"They've always been transparent with me, telling me what the possible scenarios were. And I've accepted things accordingly. Lucumi is currently one of our players."

Tedesco's comments come with the release clause in Lucumi's contract due to expire on Wednesday, a deadline that has fuelled speculation over his future in recent days given interest from two of Serie A's biggest clubs. The coach's remarks suggest Bologna are not anticipating an imminent departure, despite the interest from Turin and Milan.

Lucumi, 28, joined Bologna from Belgian side Genk in 2022 and has since established himself as one of the club's key defensive figures, helping the Rossoblu win the Coppa Italia in 2025 to end a 51-year wait for a major trophy. The Colombia international's versatility and composure on the ball have made him a wanted man among Italy's leading clubs, with his current deal running until 2027.

Tedesco, who only recently took charge at the club after joining ahead of pre-season, appears keen to build his new project around the Colombian rather than sanction a sale this summer, even with a significant fee potentially on the table before Wednesday's deadline passes.

Bologna's ability to qualify for European football in recent seasons has been built in part on defensive solidity, with Lucumi a central figure in that success alongside the club's other established performers.
