Oscar Bobb described his late winner as a long time coming after Fulham beat Coventry 1-0, securing back-to-back league victories and renewed confidence.

The Norway international settled Saturday's contest at the Coventry Building Society Arena in the 80th minute, producing a moment of quality to break a goalless deadlock and give Álvaro Arbeloa's side another important result.

Bobb's finish arrived after a difficult opening stretch to the campaign for Fulham, who had gone six league matches without a win. Victories over Hull City and Coventry City have since lifted them to 12th in the Premier League, offering a response to the pressure that followed their slow start.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Bobb was delighted to find the net again, particularly in front of the travelling supporters.

“Yes it's been a long time coming. Thankfully it came today and in front of the away fans, an amazing feeling. Coming away always tough so amazing to get the three points in back-to-back games.

“I haven't scored for a long time in the league so feels like breaking the deadlock. Happy to see how happy they [fans] are for me. Amazing feeling but it's all about the win.”

For Bobb, the goal was significant personally, but the result mattered more. Fulham had struggled to turn periods of good football into victories earlier in the season, and he believes the team's performances had offered reasons for optimism even when points were not arriving.

“Even in the games we've lost or drawn we have shown we are capable of playing good football and dominating against good teams. We've had a bit of luck in the last couple of games to get three points.”

Fulham's win at Coventry was far from straightforward. Josh King struck the post in the first half, while the visitors had to remain patient against a home side determined to make the contest difficult. Bobb's intervention finally provided the breakthrough.

The midfielder also stressed that the belief within the squad had survived the six-match winless run. The players continued to trust their approach, he said, even while results failed to reflect their efforts.

“We have had belief throughout. We started the season with six games and no win but we still had the belief we were doing the right thing and playing the right way.”

Bobb's late strike therefore carried significance beyond the three points. It gave Fulham consecutive league wins, lifted them clear of the relegation zone and offered a personal reward for a player who had waited a long time to score again.

With a difficult run of fixtures ahead, Arbeloa's side will hope the results can now match the belief Bobb says has been present from the beginning.
