Bayern president closes door on Olise as Real Madrid's interest rumbles on

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has moved to put an end to speculation linking Michael Olise with a move to Real Madrid this summer, insisting the club will not entertain offers for the France winger under any circumstances.

The 24-year-old, who joined Bayern from Crystal Palace for €60m in 2024, has been outstanding since his arrival in Bavaria, contributing to 106 goals — 54 scored, 42 assisted — across 107 appearances, including a Bundesliga title in his debut season.

At the World Cup with France, where he starts on Tuesday night against Sweden in the round of 32, Olise has continued that form, providing three assists in the group stage to go alongside his excellent relationship with Kylian Mbappé — a dynamic that has reportedly only heightened Real Madrid's desire to bring the pair together in Madrid.

Real Madrid publicly denied making contact with Olise or Bayern, and Hainer confirmed the Spanish giants had been in touch to clarify that position.

"As I have said before, if Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez had an offer in mind, he can save himself a great deal of trouble, because we do not want to sell Michael," Hainer told Abendzeitung.

"Bayern Munich has an excellent relationship with Real Madrid, and because of that, they contacted me to say that, firstly, they have absolutely no contact with Michael Olise, and secondly, they do not want this constant speculation in the media."

According to Hainer, Olise will remain in Munich regardless of what emerges from Madrid.

The story is not entirely straightforward on Olise's side. Bild has reported that the player is expected to sign a new contract after the World Cup ends, while Kicker claims he has a preference for Real Madrid if he were ever to leave. Spanish outlet AS added that Olise wants to handle any potential departure respectfully — making no decisions until after the tournament.

Bayern and Real Madrid are understood to have an informal presidential agreement that neither club will approach the other's players without prior notification — a pact that, for now, appears to be holding firm.
