The 24-year-old winger has been one of Bayern's standout performers since joining from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024. Since arriving in Munich, Olise has scored 42 goals and provided 54 assists in 107 competitive appearances for the club. His form has attracted attention from across the continent, with Real Madrid among the clubs most strongly linked with a move.
According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has identified Olise as the player he wants to make a club-record signing this summer. Reports in Spain and England have suggested Real Madrid could table an offer in the region of โฌ150m for the France international.
Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has firmly rejected any suggestion that Olise could be sold.
"Michael Olise is a Bayern Munich player who still has a long-term contract โ and we are not a club that sells players," Hainer said.
Olise's current contract runs until 2029, but Bayern are reportedly looking to extend that further, with 2031 mentioned as a target date for any new agreement. As part of the new deal, Bayern Munich are said to be prepared to nearly double Olise's current salary, which would make him one of the best-paid players at the club.
Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Olise, with some reports suggesting a fee as high as โฌ170m could be discussed as the Premier League club look for a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah.Paris Saint-Germain were also reported to have made an enquiry over Olise, though that interest is understood to have not progressed.
Beyond the immediate transfer interest, Real Madrid and Barcelona are reportedly monitoring Olise's situation for the longer term, with a possible move as early as 2027 mentioned in some reports.
Speaking in a separate interview, Olise discussed his calm on-field demeanour, which his Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany has described as cerebral.
"My style of play might give that impression. But once I'm on the pitch, I don't notice time slowing down. It's about muscle memory. I mostly play on instinct," Olise said.
He also addressed his decision to represent France at international level, despite being eligible for England, Algeria and Nigeria.
"The players I followed when I was young were French: Zidane, Thierry Henry, Ribery. And I always came to France when I was young. It felt more natural," he said.
Olise reflected too on his experience representing France at the Paris 2024 Olympics, an experience he described fondly.
"It's difficult to compare club football with the national team. First, it was in France. We had the crowd's support. As a footballer, you don't often get the chance to play at the Olympics," he said.
He also set out his ambitions for the current season, with Bayern Munich having already secured a domestic double.
"My goal this season was to win everything with France and Bayern. That's it," Olise said.
He may yet have the opportunity to add the World Cup to that list, with the final scheduled for 19 July. For Bayern, securing Olise's long-term future would represent a significant statement, both in terms of resisting interest from Real Madrid and in continuing to build their squad around one of Europe's most in-form young attackers.
