According to Kicker, the club's focus for now has shifted toward generating further funds through player sales, with sporting director Max Eberl still needing to prove his credentials in that department. Regardless, Bayern continue to scout the market intensively, with two positions in particular under close watch: a left winger and a central midfielder.
"These two positions, it's said at the club's offices, are ones the decision-makers will keep an eye on for the rest of the transfer window," kicker reported, while also noting that Bayern remain "fundamentally very satisfied" with their existing central midfield options of Joshua Kimmich, 31, Aleksandar Pavlovic, 22, and Tom Bischof, 21.
Even so, the club appears to see room for further reinforcement. In recent days, reports emerged of a €32m offer for Santos midfielder Gabriel Bontempo, 21, though the Brazilian club rejected the approach and are holding out for a fee closer to €49m.
At left wing, Bayern Munich recently extended the contract of academy product Arijon Ibrahimovic, 20, positioning him as backup to Luis Diaz, 29, making the club's continued market interest at that position somewhat surprising.
All of Bayern's transfer activity is being coordinated closely with head coach Vincent Kompany, whose input is understood to carry unusually significant weight in the club's new transfer committee.
One factor that could upend those plans entirely is the situation surrounding Michael Olise, 24, who is believed to want a move to Real Madrid before the end of the summer, in a deal that could be worth as much as €220m were it to go through.
The scouting work also comes against a backdrop of departures that could reshape the picture further. Leon Goretzka has already left on a free transfer, and both Joao Palhinha and Noel Aseko are expected to move on before the window closes, easing some of the competition for places in central midfield even without a new arrival.
Bayern's spending so far this summer has already stretched the budget, meaning further business is likely to depend on outgoing fees being banked first.
