Bayern Munich are still considering a move for Givairo Read, with the Feyenoord right-back remaining on the club’s radar after a transfer failed to materialise.

The 20-year-old has remained at Feyenoord after a proposed move to Munich failed to materialise during the latest transfer window.

According to Christian Falk’s cfbayerninsider.com report, Bayern Munich could revisit their interest if they can first find a buyer for Sacha Boey. The French defender’s continued presence in the squad prevented the German champions from making room for Read during the latest window.

Read had already come close to joining Bayern last winter, but an injury suffered by the Dutchman caused that move to collapse. He has since remained at Feyenoord, where his performances continue to attract attention from leading European clubs.

The Bundesliga side are reportedly still convinced by Read’s qualities and could make another attempt in January if Boey’s situation changes. A fee of around €25 million has previously been discussed.

Read’s contract with Feyenoord runs until 2029, giving the Dutch club a strong negotiating position. Bayern would also face competition from the Premier League, with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City among the clubs previously linked with the Netherlands Under-21 international.

For Bayern, the interest is closely connected to the balance of their own squad. Boey’s future remains an important factor because selling the right-back would create both space in the squad and greater scope for further defensive investment.

Read has developed rapidly since joining Feyenoord and is regarded as one of the Netherlands’ promising young full-backs. His ability to operate aggressively from the right has helped attract interest beyond the Eredivisie.

A winter move therefore remains possible rather than imminent. Bayern must first resolve the situation around Boey, while Feyenoord would have to decide whether the reported €25 million valuation is sufficient to consider losing one of their young defensive assets.

With his contract extending into 2029 and several major clubs monitoring him, Read’s future is likely to remain a significant transfer story as the January window approaches.

The Dutch international’s continued development at Feyenoord means Bayern are unlikely to lose sight of the situation. If Boey departs, the path to a renewed approach could open quickly.
